Medford Mayhem 4! Bowl Results!

This last Saturday went off. The word must have spread about the cash money awards because there were crowds for days. The bowl party started first and the slaughter began. There were about fifteen competitors who made it. Over forties, Girl rippers, 7 year olds and everything in between were in presence for the bowl shralping. Tricks went down. Way to many to mention.
There were people dodging each other left and right and it was just insane. Posted are some pictures of the bowl contest...

And here are the results!
1. Tyler Albright $300.00
2. Jason Garza $200.00
3. Noah Phillips $100.00

The day went on and all the results from the park contest will be posted next. Also our in house filmer Carlos Craig will be making a sick flick of the contest soon so watch out for that as well! So be sure to check the blog because all the other results and pics will be posted real soon!

From Day one Johnny has been killing it on a skateboard. Growing up in Southern Oregon probably has to do with it a lot. We've been lucky to have Johnny on the team for awhile, 9 years to be exact. (ask Rita she has the original Jacks Board House team member sign ups from '01 which also includes Steven Reeves.) I caught up with him for interview with him before he left on the road for Bacon Skateboards new movie, "Unheard." They are traveling threw the good ol' mid-west premiering there video and doing demos for the month. Check out all that info on Bacon Skateboards website. To the INTERVIEW:

J.B.H: Hey whats up Johnny!, Still driking them Camo Cans?

JT:I think those days are over. It's all about STACK now. Go check it out at your local penny saver market.

J.B.H.:Worst skate spot you've been to?

JT:The parking lot next to the 5823 house.

J.B.H.: Whats in your MP3 device right now?

JT: Wilson Pickett

J.B.H: I want to know know exactly how many boards you've skated.

JT:I couldn't even tell you. I feel like I'm throwing them through a wood chipper.

J.B.H. Everyone wants to know how you got your name Mudbutt.

JT:Shit piss out my ass.

J.B.H.:Ever bought anything off ebay?

JT:I'm more of an Amazon.com/Craigslist kind of guy.

J.B.H.: Any big plans this spring?

JT:Raise Hell 3! Learn it...know it....Live it.

J.B.H:Shout Outs?

JT:Everyone knows if it wasn't for Rita and everyone at Jack's board house nobody would be where they are today. And thanks Mom and Pops

Just a reminder....

This saturday at the Medford Skatepark. $600.00 up for grab. Rumor has it if Grants Pass Matt wins its going into some DIY.....plus possible beanie clan sightings? Also come hungry cause we goot the BBKrew! See ya'll there!

Matts Bowl DIY Project

Whats wrong with a little bit of hard work before a skate session? All it takes is about 6 braces, 12 guys (on-time), and just a little bridge over the shallow end. Though everybody was pretty sketchy about the lifting it went down. A nice crew from, Scum Skateboards(Daryn), Larry Martin and some other GP shralpers, Rita and the Jacks Board House crew, (snax, bean, and friends.), new skateshop owners from GP (thanks for all the beverages!), some random guy from the bar and GPMK himself. It was a stressful 20 minutes moving the shed but it was muscled over. There was a nice crack heard in the middle of walking over the makeshift bridge but it had to be moved.
After the shed move the session and eatin' was on. One trip to the local grocery store for BBQ supplies (Thanks Rita!) and some brews we went back to Matts, fired up the BBQ, and skating started going down. Snax killed it, Bean tried 540's, Noah was going for frontside inverts and miller flips and GPMK grinded hard, real hard. The party rolled on with more trips to the beer store, listening to old records and good times.
Matts plan is to do some more DIY stuff going in where the shed was taken out. An escalator, a bank, gnarly pocket, 6 foot walls and a concrete doorway. He says its a work in progress but hopes to get a few donations to help him out. Matts Bowl has been a destination spot for Southern Oregon and pros rolling threw. Thats why he is wanting to build more to put Southern Oregon on the map. Word on the street is there is going to be a fundraiser to get money to put more crete in. We will posting any events going down at Matts Bowl so keep checking up to see whats going down around here in Southern Oregon! Thanks Matt for the good times and next time we'll try to be on time....

Interview with Johnny "Mudbutt" Turgesen

Ladies and gents, boys and girls. INTERVIEW with Johnny T will be coming in the next couple days. So check it out or check yourself out.

Medford Mayhem comin in REAL hot!

For the last three years Medford Mayhem has been going down here at the Medford Skatepark. Over the years we just usually give out product and shwag for the winners. This year its a little bit different. In its fourth year going down, there is just one word.. Cash...thats right. Cash talks, bullshi* walks. $600.00 bones up for grabs for the pool party. Like always, all the money received for the event goes right back to our skatepark. $10.00 is a small price to enter the contest. With a cash prize up for grabs we expect it to be bigger then ever this year. Story behind Medford Mayhem is that each year a senior from one of the local high schools takes over the contest for his or her senior project. So set your chips aside you couch potato and come out on April 24 at 10 a.m at the Medford Skatepark. BBQ is going down and as always....we'll be doing it REAL big.
See ya there!

International Gettin' It!

They come and they go. Slash grind here, slash grind there. For this guy he is taken it overseas. I have been lucky enough to know this guy for holy shit....18 years now. Then a boy Steven, now a man Salvatore. This Jacksonville local has been part of the scene for years and decided that he wanted to get up and go. Amsterdam first on the list(for obvious reasons) and now Sal is residing in Barcelona, Spain. Not only does Sal kill it on the streets and in the park but he is always down for a good time and hanging out with the medford locs. We are going to be following Sals International Gettin it Tour till he gets back. He will be sending us pics of skate spots, partying and back smiths for sure and we'll be posting them up. Word on the streets is he got an apartment in Spain and will be posting up there for a little bit then who knows.... One thing for sure is "Oh, its going D." Sal get it hard and we'll be here when you get back! Hey one more thing Sal! SKIRDOOSH!
